Getting my car started

Somehow, charging $850 to get my car to start seems excessive. (Parts are $400....?) Nonetheless, that's basically what's in store  for me at Lucas Chevrolet later today when I pick up my 2002 Chevy Malibu (that Triple A towed there from my house yesterday). I am so sad.

Meanwhile, on a happier, "This is what America is all about", note, it seems this inspirational pair will be running again in 2014 to honor their fallen comrades at the Boston Marathon.(They were a mile from the finish line when the bomb hit).  http://www.teamhoyt.com/about/index.html

Yesterday was another DEAR lunch. We had fifteen people and are looking forward to next month's get together on the 22nd.

Earth Day was not as publicly touted this year as I've seen it in years past. Maybe my distance from the school environs has lessened the impact, but if so, that's a sad commentary on the world after 40+years of hearing about it.

It's nice to have free time now that tax season is over. :-)  (I'm watching the Homeland series. Wow.)

April now

It's five days since Tom's surgery and he is finally feeling better. In fact, we just got back from the movies. We saw Jurassic Park in 3-D. It was really good. The dinosaurs weren't as scary as i thought they'd be, but the general 3-d-hood was better than most I've encountered to date.

I see I haven't written anything in a MONTH! I guess I was busy.

Tax season is over, I've done some things with CONTACT and SHIP and danced, and Tom had a gazillion doctor's appointments and that surgery....He finally did something about his sleep apnea and is resting much better and so am I (no snoring!)

What else? Hmm....We won tickets to a Montgomery Gentry private-ish concert and that was fun.

Sue and Patrick were in NYC for a whirlwind trip, but we didn't get to see them
:-(

I opened a bill on the way to the movies tonight and almost had a heart attack, but then realized it was my neighbor's. He wasn't home, so we left him a message. I feel terrible (and isn't it illegal?) but it was an accident. Who thought a bill from Bank of America in my mailbox wouldn't be mine?

I wish summer weather would come back; I was freezing today!

Tripping

We're on Rt. 70 in Indiana, heading to Fayetteville, via Branson.
Our trip has been a bit slower than anticipated but not bad. We didn't leave til after noon on Wednesday (my birthday!) and ended up staying in Cambridge, Ohio. We enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner around 9 p.m. and a restful evening.
Tom's having better sleep now that he has "the mask", so he enjoyed the rest until 9 this morning and then we were on the road again. (and I even drove some!) and we are still driving.

In recent news, we've been dancing, Tom has had a gazillion tests on a variety of things. I am disappointed that after the second quarterly cystoscopy, the doctor said he sees suspicious stuff again that worries him again, so Tom needs to have another trans-urethral resection of a bladder tumor surgery. We scheduled it from the road for April 15th. He has a BCG treatment already scheduled for March 19th at 8:45 a.m. I am wondering if we will be back in time for that....

Ken and Tony invited us to dance for the seniors at Lions Gate last Sunday night. It was so much fun! The residents were great! :-)

March on!

Well, February went by really really fast and now it's March and almost my birthday and Isaac's wedding. (and Gina's birthday, Mark's birthday, and GeeGee's birthday, among others....)

I'm still working hard at H&R Block and it's still cold and Tom is still cute as a button and the best husband ever.

I learned a lot about the history of tea and had a virtual tour of Rockland Mansion with my DKG sisters on Saturday, but I missed the St. Patrick's Day parade in Mt. Holly.

We had the biggest DEAR group yet at Casamari on the 21st. I forgot to take pictures except as we left. The next one is on the first day of Spring!

I am looking forward to getting back in touch with family after tax season winds down.

I hope Tom's upcoming medical tests are helpful in combating any ills....

I hope weather is warm and sunny by the time we are on the road to AR!

Gee Gee!

Of course, the highlight of the day was lunch with Gee Gee. We had our usual lettuce wrap and then another (!) as well as my delicious mac and cheese and her straight up burger.

We talked for hours and wished we lived closer.

I had to drive home in some pretty ugly (oxymoron!) rain, but I made it (and stopped for Tom's expressed wish for a chocolate treat (or two..or six...).

There was some concern on my part yesterday when I got a bill from my car insurance company for $108.00. I thought I had paid off the whole thing already.
Lo and behold! When I called them this morning, it turns out they never gave me credit ($100 discount) for paying the whole thing at once in the beginning. So now I don't owe $108 anymore, which is great, but....
what if I just paid and hadn't questioned it????
Let this be a lesson to us all! Caveat emptor, right?

It seems tax season is almost half over. Wow...time flies when you're working EVERY DAY. (Well, I had off yesterday and today and will be off again on Thursday (so of course I'm overnighting on Wed after dancing....!)

I am so looking forward to lunch at Casamari Friday with the DEAR group!

Tom is holding up well despite his aches and pains and test scheduling and sleep apnea.( I heart Tom!)

Snow!

There's a huge snowstorm in the Northeast and we here in Burlington County are getting some of it. I don't know yet how and if this will affect work today at HR Block.

(Hello Margie in warm Myrtle Beach!)

Much has been going on since last I wrote. I've been working a gazillion hours at H&R Block, Tom is back to bowling but also has had some new medical issues to deal with so he has some dr's appointments and procedures coming up. We're still dancing, of course! We have slipped in a few social events here and there, but we'll have to do most of our catching up AFTER tax season.

Kristen Hannah is my current "read all of her books" author.

Sue recommends the tv series "Homeland" and I have seen the first two episodes of season one and am looking forward to future viewing.

It is early now (5:21 am.) (Reminds me of the old school snow days watch!) so perhaps I'll try and get some more sleep now......... :-)

....and the livin' is easy.....

Well, it's certainly not summertime, that's for sure!
27 degrees this morning on the way to breakfast at Amy's with The Brunch Group, and Tom said it was like a heat wave.
How cold was it? My camera didn't work! It was frozen!
Actually, that happened near the end of the day at the Fire and Ice event in Mt. Holly, too. Hmm...I'll need to watch for that this year...maybe get a little camera blanket for the winter.......!

I am sorry I missed the Pat McHugh birthday celebration at Throwback's. I didn't see the announcement about it until after it had already started. It would have been fun to see all the kids :-)  from yesteryear (not to mention wings....yum yum!)

Tax season is in full swing and I'm having fun getting back in touch with old friends and clients.

I can't believe it will be February at the end of this week! Time is really flying by!
