Holiday time 2019

Tom and Roberta at Dooney's Pub

I was delighted to have Tom join me for the last DEAR lunch of the year. Sadly, he couldn't make it to Mark's open house nor the annual Christmas Eve morning breakfast with the old Fifth Grade Teachers group this morning....and I can't believe I didn't take any pictures at either event! It was good to see Allan and Judy, Ron, Kathryn and Chuck, Jackie and Harry. All seem to be doing well and will be praying for and keeping Tom in their thoughts.

We saw Star Wars at 1:15 a.m. Thursday night and got home so late I decided I might as well go right to the 5 a.m. Max class! We haven't gotten to Bombshell yet, but I was happy to go with Marcia yesterday to see Jo Jo Rabbit, which we both really liked.

Oh, did I mention Trump was impeached? Yes. I am not making public comments about him but my inner thoughts are very dark.

Garth Brooks at our Prospectors! (December 2, 2019)

No, sadly, I didn't win tickets and wasn't there, but Tony Romeo posted this ending performance on Facebook for those of us at home.

This is a photobucket salvage test

I have so many old photos on a variety of photobucket sites. I don't really need them all but I hate the thought of losing them.
I am wondering if I embed them, will they stay free of the photobucket site or will the link back to a (future) non existing site make them gone forever?

Update Oct. 3, 2021- I'm closing down photobucket, but I did save a lot of the photos...from one site at least.
The 2005 photos from that photobucket album are here now: https://photos.app.goo.gl/qTQpHAFQwKgeSqpf9

Jack, of air conditioner fame, came over today to masking tape up some leaky spots on the old ductwork and now we feel better.

I went to the 9 a.m. exercise class, Tom got a haircut and played golf, I attended night one of the Intermediate Credits HRB class.

Tomorrow is exercise, lunch with Gee Gee, Rec Committee meeting and Tom has a Dr. Rinnear appointment.

Such is the exciting life we live! :-)

And another school year begins...2019-2020

Hurricane Dorian destroyed the Bahamas, hit the Carolinas, and will be heading our way (but not too badly) in a day or two maybe.

When we left FL everyone thought the hurricane was going to hit there really hard, but it turned and they were okay.

While we were in FL we had the mini reunion, Piscataway style, and also got to see John and Helen, Linda, Wilma and Harry, and meet Tom's pogo buddy, Helena. :-)  We ate at Boston Lobster. Oh, and we bought time share points from Vacation Village/RCI and danced one night.

When we got home our air conditioner was down (again) and finally we had to buy a new heating/cooling system.

Most recently, on the first day of school, I went to Seaside with Marcia and Dolly. It was a good day!

Getting ready

Tom did have his Wednesday back procedure (cauterized nerves) so no NYC that day. Just as well because it rained.

He had another procedure for something else this week too and they assured him wearing his hearing aids wouldn't be a problem, but then one didn't work. He has an appt regarding them tomorrow anyway so hopefully they can make it right before we leave for FL the next day.

We also didn't go to dancing at all this week (I am planning to Sugarfoot it today though), nor did I make it to either of the interesting sounding Amphitheater shows (go Woodstock...50 year anniversary..wow).

We did get to Randi's pig roast party.

We have been seeing movies back and forth between the two services. I am ending the Netflix DVD program to tie in with comcast picking up the streaming part. (New bundle also is supposed to be faster internet...we are having some on/off issues and I guess I need a new computer if I want faster internet :-(    Tom is not happy that comcast took Cinemax out of the bundle everywhere).

This coming week is the last for the latest Max Challenge. Goal: work the program for the next one when I get back. :-)

Feeling Regal

My big day out Saturday! I went to the extra Legacy Max class in Maple Shade, went to Moorestown Mall and had delicious tuna sashima while I waited for the movies to open. I saw Dora the Explorer, which was cute, bought some clothes (without Mary Lou! omg!), and came home.

I met Dolly at the Burlington Library Amphitheater to see the show and we spent most of the first half signing her up for Regal Unlimited. We finally got her in and can't wait to start seeing movies together all the time.

Meanwhile, Tom and I used our Regal Unlimiteds for "Kitchen" tonight in Moorestown. Maybe Dolly will be able to join us...hooe so!

Going to NYC Wednesday is a very remote possibility (Tom is having some issues that might prevent his back shots he needs me home for that day). It depends on Tom not needing me and if Dolly would still be available to come with (or Marcia...or someone....)

Lunch with the exes

Tom and I were happy to hook up with Ann and Gina for a delicious lunch at Michael's in Bensalem.

We caught up with life events and I turned them on to padlet.com :-)

Ann Tom Gina

Gina Sam Ann
We probably won't get to NYC for a Broadway show until October, but I am looking forward to it!

The weekend

Tom golfed Friday and then was too tired and achy to dance.

Today (Saturday) I was happy to go to the free trial class at the Maple Shade Max. Then Tom and I went to the movies to see The Life of Pets 2 (because we've seen everything else) and after all the trouble with Tom's Regal subscription, mine acted up (it's okay now).

I was so tired I fell asleep and when I woke up I thought it was Sunday, but it was still Saturday night. Tom didn't want to dance, so I went to the Amphitheater show.
I saw some Prospectors people there, Laurie Fauver, and Tom from The Max.

I stopped at Wawa on the way home for some Tom treats.

I am thinking Tom and I can go together to Planet Fitness tomorrow. We never go there and it's about time.

Books and Movies

So now it is August already. Wow.

I have read four books in as many days and they were all good reads. I am happy and I have four more to go in my car.

Tom finally got the Regal Unlimited to work so now we both have both Regal and AMC memberships. We have been to a lot of movies this week too!

I did a Contact shift this morning and only five people called!

I am sad that we don't go dancing anymore...or very much actually...since Tom never feels up to it (but he did go golfing today).

I am planning to do the extra Max class in Maple Shade tomorrow to try and make up some exercise for not dancing and all the eating (non compliant) I've been doing. :-(

July is ending soon

The big highlights of the day were signing up for a Regal movie subscription :-)  and then going to
(an AMC!) move- Once Upon a Time in Hollywood- which wasn't that great, really. At least Sharon Tate lived...that's something anyway....

It's hard to believe how fast the summer is going. It will be August before the end of the week :-(

I found out from Facebook that Jass (and bf) were at the festival where the shooting was yesterday. They are okay, but OMG, that's people I know.... and Gina's girl Caitlin had been there earlier in the day but was gone by the time the shooting started, thank goodness.

Fun with Marcia in NYC

Marcia and I had a fun time in New York.

We got to the train station in plenty of time (even though we missed the 295 turnoff initially!), had an uneventful ride to the city, walked toward the theater, stopped for lunch at Connelly's Pub on 45th, peeked in at Junior's, picked up our tickets, waited pre-show at a bar, saw the show and really enjoyed it and then came home.

It was a great day

Cher tomorrow!

Today I am playing with a new wordpress site. I don't think it is going to help much with the njeasites we are starting for BCREA, but who knows?

Today the Smithville Rd. bridge reopened (it only took two years....oy!)

Tomorrow Marcia and I are going to see The Cher Show in NYC. I am looking forward to it.

Tom has hearing aids now.

Our air conditioning stopped working on Thursday but someone came Friday and fixed it.

Did I publish anywhere that the police stopped me a couple of weeks ago coming home from the Amphitheater show? Yeah, my car lights were off!   :-(

We (mostly I) binge watched all 8 seasons of "Suits" in five days. That was 128 hour long episodes (without commercials though....) Two times I never went to bed and watched all night into the next afternoon! I really loved it (I guess you can tell!)

I am so excited about Regal finally coming up with a movie pass -like plan! Can't wait to sign up...any day now....

Yesterday

So yesterday Tom and I saw the movie of the same name. What a delight! Of all the movies we have seen this month, this was my favorite. I look forward to discussing it with others who feel the same.

We are home all summer until the end of August. I hope I will be using the time wisely and visit/catch up with friends and relatives, clean out superfluous household items, work through my To Do list, and carpe diem!

What happened to June?!

And now it is the last week of June! Time goes so fast!

We have made up for lost time at the movies. I went to the DEA Retirement lunch, lunch with Piscataway friends, and lunch with the DEAR friends group. We also had lunch at our favorite place. Quite a week for eating!

Tom's still doing his share of doctors. I did the eye thing...good for another six months....Conni has been in Virtua Hospital all week...I finished two books so far....I had 14,000+ steps earlier, thanks to Sugarfootin' Sunday (good thing since I woke up too late for the extra Max day....the new challenge starts today (I think this is my fifth? is that how many 10 week segments plus in betweens are in a year? It's been a year!!! Wow) Tom was working the lawn and took some passer-bys up on cutting some of our branches down and cleaning up. It looks better now.

Tomorrow I am going to Sky's after the Max to start helping with the school supply sorting.

Remind me to tell you about the Rita's water ice story! :-) Suffice to say they want to give me anything I want for free to keep me happy and coming back!

I was glad to hear that Margie, Mike, and Pat were feeling well enough to hit A. C. for Pat's birthday!

Latest events

Since we've been back, I went to the big #Fixtheunfairness rally in Trenton

(See pictures)

and Darry's party.

Someone posted a video of people (with me the most!) dancing to Trashy Women.

Today Tom went to play golf (second time since we've been back. I am glad he is feeling well enough to get out on the links (and he was dancing yesterday, too!)

This week I have two book clubs and three lunches. Ah....retirement is definitely the way to go! :-)

CMA 2019 info and photos on padlet.com

So this seems to be a fine way to display the highlights of the most recent Nashville experience.

On the road home from Nashville

Wow, have  I really not written on here since mid-May? That seems like a lifetime ago.
I am sure a lot of things have happened since then, but most currently we enjoyed a wet, yet wonderful, week in Nashville for the 2019 CMA Music Fest.

We didn't do as much running around as usual, Tom even less than I, and the weather did have a lot to do with that. Meanwhile, we loved having Tom's little walking thing, both to help him physically and to use as a chair at times.

We went to every nightly performance at Nissan Stadium and were delighted with our seats in the front row.

It's raining really hard right now as we approach the end of TN...after gassing up moments ago in no rain!

Power to the people

I was awakened at 3 a.m. this morning to the sounds and sights (lights off and on and off and on) of popping flashes of power off power on. Scary!
Now, almost 3 p.m., we came home to find lights on, but the internet was off and now the big tv isn't working for dvr and who knows what else? :-(

We met Ann and Gina for lunch at the Michaels restaurant in Bensalem, PA. It was so good to see them!

Here is a photo of me on kickboxing day. Don't I look tough? :-)

That's a roundhouse kick, by the way!

It's May!

Some videos on Facebook with me on the periphery are now online. Some are from Prospectors Thursday night (went after the BCEA Teacher Appreciation social which was quite nice, although I was disappointed that absolutely no one else from Delran or BCREA was in attendance...(?!)

This one is from Leg Day, Thursday, May 9th, at The Max Challenge (maybe you can't see it without Facebook and being a member of our private page). Here's a still shot from it (That's back of me top right wearing my Delran H.S. musical t-shirt. The front says Feed Me! from Little Shop of Horrors).

7 a.m. class

Love my Mt. Holly  Max Challenge! (miss my Maple Shade friends).

Meanwhile, mid decision of who to get for our new roof  replacement had a commercial break as Tom and I spent all afternoon working on the design and implementation of getting a tarp up to cover our shingle-challenged shed until it can be roof restored as well. It was not easy!

I wonder if the Mays are back from Norway yet. I can't wait to see more photos.

The Senior Expo was fun and I won a gift certificate to the 130 Diner.

I visited Margie and had fun playing Scrabble. I hope she is feeling better soon!

Margie Hummell, Queen of Scrabble

Tom has been dealing with a lot of health issues and doctor appointments. I hope he gets relief soon. Meanwhile, I am fine, so far....knock on wood.

April 17th

Happy birthday, Tom!
Tom's birthday is tomorrow.
Today he had surgery. I guess (hope!) the present is things are looking pretty clear with the bladder and surrounding areas...better than the doctor had been thinking. Of course, the pathology report is yet to come, but I have high hopes of good news there as well. Now we just have to concentrate on back and hips and get them better too.

Tax season is over and I am HR Blockless for awhile now.

It looks like my calendar is full for the next week or so with lunches and Contact and SHIP update. I want to call my ailing and grieving friends and visit them.

Exercising at The Max Challenge is still my very best habit (although I didn't get to attend today, due to Tom's surgery and post operative watch out. (Oh and we have to go see Dwosh twice tomorrow too....maybe we can have cake and ice cream in between....?)

Did I mention I spoke to our newly found cousin Greg? Turns out Howie had a baby that was put up for adoption. He currently lives in Wayne, NJ and is eager to learn more about his birth family relatives. (He just found out to....through DNA sharing with Nathan!)

Aetna people called for an in home consultation, so I set one for the 29th. Hmmm.....

Do you know how old I am???

Wow, I can't believe how neglectful I've been of this blog! It's the middle of March and I can't even remember all the things that have happened since last I posted.

Well, the wedding was great and it was wonderful to see everyone.

The NYC and VA trips took up the first week that the IRS starting accepting tax returns, so I missed the start of the big time action during peak, and I was working like every day after that until recently.

There were other activities here and there (and of course movies and dancing!)

Helping at the library book sale

Rec Committee Youth Painting Workshop

Lunch with DEAR friends

Birthday flowers from Jennifer

Finding old friends at Gee Gee lunch at Metro North

I went to Tom's bowling one night, too. That was fun. He is hurting now, though, so he didn't go this week. His hip is the newest addition to the pain company. Poor Tom!

We are already looking forward to this year's CMA Fest, now that we have secured a place to stay while we're there. I will look for a good deal on a flight out, but probably we will be driving.

No Jamboree in the Hills! :-(

Here's a link to a video in which I am not featured, but show up on the right hand side, dancing the 38 step: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bu2TDUrDJ6J8H8_pjwrSaGdIRztPjcd4Blv8uE0/ (on Susan Sutphen Instagram if you can get to it...)

This is a captured still from the end:

New York, New York

Well, I have certainly been neglectful of this blog!
It is now 2019 and movie pass is gone, AMC is in. HR Block is back in action, although I am missing this first peak week with first our New York City trip we just got home from and the Jonathon Goff wedding we are heading to Virginia for tomorrow.
Other things happened in December, for sure, but tomorrow is February 1 and time marches on.
Here are some NYC pics:
