Hot Springs...hot!

Oops! I see I am a little behind here....We have been in our Hot Springs resort place since Friday at check in. It is really nice here...lots to do from pool to tennis, miniature golf to ping pong, jacuzzi and sauna to shuffleboard ( I am at the lobby, picking up the sticks and round things now...)

We were on our own for a few days, but went over to Crystal's dad's for a Memorial Day eating time (his house is big and awesome!) and to pick up the boys.
We have been having fun with them. Linda came over today and hopefully we'll see Crystal and Ethan later.

Leaving Knoxville

Our Thursday consisted of a lot of driving for Tom.

We left at about 9:30 a.m. and got to Amy's outside of D.C. in Virginia at about 1 or so. We hung out there with Sarah and Mom for about an hour and then drove and drove and drove (Tom, not I).

We checked out our Trip Rewards deal and ended up getting a room in Knoxville with it (a great room with a jacuzzi and everything!). Though we didn't get there until 11 p.m. it was much better than sleeping on the side of the road!

We met a nice couple from Chicago on their way to Myrtle Beach at breakfast (6 a.m.) and are now on the road again.

Lauren's Blog

Former student and world traveller, Lauren Brown is currently in the Vietnam, Bangkok area of the world. She is beautiful, adventurous and a great writer. You, too, can share her views on the experience at: http://yutzyjbear.livejournal.com/

Meanwhile, the continuing travels of Roberta and Tom will be taking us on the road to Hot Springs, Arkansas Thursday. (A lot of driving for poor Tom, but he's the one who thought of it!) We almost booked a Carnival cruise to eastern Carib. for June 14, but the contact person showed me some better idea possibilities....we'll see what happens with that.

I had a double Retro Fitness experience today with Tom in the morning and Kick boxing tonight while Tom was busy winning first place with his Monday night bowling league. (Way to go, Tom! His 286 and 257 games may have helped a bit, eh?)

Lots of News

Working backwards once again....it seems Amy needs us to watch her mom while they go to Disney World...and we will, but too bad we didn't know sooner than today because Tom booked a week in Hot Springs May 23-30 just this morning at 2 a.m. and the Goff's are leaving on the 28th.. Hmm...well it will work out. Everything does.

So we have been busy since we've been back from Myrtle Beach. We saw Jim and Ganine last night at Prospectors and we danced on Wednesday too. It was good to be back!

We worked out at the gym twice and did some cardio there today too. I can't believe I totally forgot about my kickbox class last Monday, but I will remember this week!

Millie is getting married! But we will be finishing up with the JITH in Ohio then. I hope we can catch them soon thereafter.

I caught the end of the BCREA workshop on Identity Theft and Consumer Protection, took some photos and worked on the website photos from the Teacher Appreciation social.

Sue sent photos from the Patrick/Zoe birthday times and Jenn sent a video of Jassy dancing.

I'd like to put in a small commercial here about Tom, my husband. I must have been really really good in my last life to deserve a sweetheart like him. 'nuff said.

Happy Birthday, Joanne!

I hope N. Carolina is sunnier for Joanne's birthday than it is here in 56 degree wet and miserable NJ. (but warmer sunny days are coming! weather.com promised!)

I got this video from a not-to-be mentioned on the internet named friend...hooray for youtube!

(Love those people!)

We finally got to dance again at Prospectors Saturday night and it was big big fun. Tom has been golfing and will be finishing up bowling this month. June events are shaping up with Margie's party, Robert's graduation party, the WXTU concert. We still have the 11th to 20th free...maybe we can slip in that elusive cruise we've been trying to book....

Malia has a new business starting....Margie has her ytb business in full swing.....I think it's time to start gearing up our Market America endeavors. Anyone out there looking for a "plan B" in these troubled economic times?

Heading for home

We are en route to NJ from Myrtle Beach with a planned stop in Dunfries, VA to return Tom's mom to Amy and family.

The vacation in SC was big big fun (as always). Last night we took mom and the visiting Joanne to the Beach Wagon. That was following an afternoon on the sunny beach overlook by our pool.

It was good to see Joanne after all this time! The good news is she will be in NJ in June with Rachel and we will get to see them!

Vacation activities included the Sexton Clinic (It's for teeth! what did you think?) for Tom's mom, golfing, sun on the beach and relaxing jacuzzi time. (I did a water exercise class one morning too!)

News from friends afar include: sadly Terri is saying good-bye to a very sick Merlin, happily, Shaun and Amy had a baby boy, adventuresomely former student Lauren Brown is on an extended excursion in Vietnam and beyond. She has a fascinating blog!

There is no news from Doreen and George :-( ever since email to her kept bouncing back. I am hoping they are fine (and happy birthday and Mother's Day to her mom (and Doreen too! and all you mothers out there!)

Myrtle Beach and wheelies in the sand

We left at 4 a.m. Friday morning and, after a stop at Amy's in Dunfries, VA to meet and greet and pick up Tom's mom, we drove and drove and got to Myrtle Beach around 5 p.m.

We did the traditional dinner at Bennett's Calabash, a seafood buffet that Mom loved as much as we always do.

We have a great two bedroom place at Shorecrest with an unbelievable ocean view. If you stand back a bit from the sliding door, it looks like the view from a cruise ship balcony!

Today we experienced a made for the beach wheelchair for the very first time. It was extraordinary, and served its purpose well!
Mom loved being on the beach and made lots of new friends.
