Our nightly family 5000/Jeopardy zoom meetings have started including Jennifer's very clever word puzzles.

I just made some to be in on the fun.

It's past mid-February and covid19 is still with us. Tom has had his two vaccine shots and my second is scheduled for Thursday. We are still not going out or seeing people.

I completed my sole tax return today- digital drop-off to approve online. On my way out the door (2 hours later than planned, and several people in the office, but they mostly stayed away from me!) I saw one of my favorite regular clients. He was there with an appointment with someone else and it made me sad, but it is what it is, I guess.

Tom and I went there after his shot to have Dolly notarize me signing my new will in front of two tax pro colleague witnesses. So that's done.

My Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Pain course goals for the week involve exercise and sleeping. (You can see - it's currently 4:03 a.m.- how well the sleeping part is working out...!)

I did a Saturday "in person" online with Ivona exercise class and hope to be more regular with that in the future.

Some wonderful young people came over and shoveled our driveway and sidewalk after the last snow event. (Other neighbors helped us for the two before that as well. :-)  I peeked at them from the window and was ready to pay, but they just left without asking. Random act of kindness, for sure. We are so grateful!

This has been a wintry season so far.

Poor Texas!

New Year Thoughts

I got the nicest message from a former student:

Hi Roberta, I hope this message finds you well. I was thinking about you this week, while helping my kids with their remote learning. We were talking about favorite teachers, and I was telling them about you. Like so many other parents right now, I’ve had to be more engaged in the process, and have had to learn to be way more patient than I’m accustomed to. I don’t how you did it so well, especially with students like me to contend with, but I wanted to express my gratitude for all that you did. You made the learning experience fun, like no other teacher I’ve ever had. Thank you for that. Please take care and be safe. Sincerely, Garry

It totally made my day, for sure!

Yesterday, I looked into vaccination sites and lucked into being able to sign up for a vaccination time at a nearby facility next week. Unfortunately, after successfully getting Tom signed up all the slots were filled when I got back in to it to try and set an appointment for me. :-(   Wish me future luck!

Not working at HR Block this tax season makes me sad, but better safe and healthy during the ever surging pandemic.

The January 6, 2021 insurgence at the Capital was shocking and distressing. Trump's impeachment was long overdue. Will he be convicted?

I hope the inauguration Wednesday goes smoothly and safely. Hooray for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris!

I look forward to a zoom visit with the Mays and Nathan on Sunday.

Happy New Year!

So it's 2021 and we all have our fingers crossed for a better year ahead.

Dancing with the zoomers and playing Jeopardy with my CA family were the evening's highlights.

So it's December

Amazing how fast time goes by when you are doing nothing...

Well, actually, I am doing a lot of SHIP counseling as the open enrollment time slot heads into the last week.

The virus is rampant, the President is petulant, the weather is wild (but no snow yet) and life goes on.

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a fun time today with Nathan and the Rotterdam crew talking and playing 5000 and Jeopardy.

We ate our third delicious Thanksgiving dinner (Tom is such a good cook!) and relaxed for the day.

We called Tom's sister Amy to catch up with them and see what's been going on. Mary Grace just had her second baby four days ago, which makes the fourth new baby for the Goffs since the year began, a total of 10 grandchildren...and now it turns out Krissy is pregnant (due in May 2021). Sadly, we won't be able to make it to Arkansas for Joshua's December wedding (covid travel not), but we were happy to talk and congratulate him on the impending nuptials and honeymoon.

This photo from last December is so out of date now, right? Just picture four more babies and one new wife to be in the next group shot...anticipated photo op coming soon.

What a great family!

Thursday, November 26, 2020

So here we are at the end of November. The election is over and Joe Biden won. Sadly, the pandemic is still with us and the virus is hitting hard again. We are still staying in and doing our best to stay safe.

I've made 3  Shutterfly calendars so far and am hoping for a better 2021. I've been doing a lot of SHIP counseling during this Open Enrollment time. Other currently ongoing activities are zooming- NJEA virtual Convention, dancing, 5000 and Jeopardy, book clubs, Sigma, DEAR friends, out-laws- and now with tax season looming, HRB classes- and of course lots of TV shows and movies.

Playing 5000 with Nathan in Rotterdam on his birthday was really fun and we're looking forward to doing it again today- Happy Thanksgiving!
